The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Refrigerants are liquids stored in your air conditioner’s coils that cool and dehumidify indoor air. If there weren’t refrigerants, there wouldn’t be air conditioning. For years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, it will no longer be legal to produce R-22 because of its negative effects on the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo reduce environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now compatible with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and doesn’t contain chlorine, which means it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Denver because it’ll help make your cooling system operate efficiently, reliably and quietly, and provide the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was manufactured anytime before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is totally unavailable. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Northglenn Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. work with R-410A, so you can be sure we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Additionally, avoid”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
